The General Assembly of acatech (Deutsche Akademie der Technikwissenschaften, National Academy of Science and Engineering) elected Prof. László Monostori , Director of SZTAKI to member of the Academy.

SZTAKI is happy to announce the first official release of Occopus  which is a framework that provides automatic features for configuring and orchestrating distributed applications (so called virtual infrastructures) on single or multi cloud systems.

Occopus can be used by application developers and application controllers to manage virtual infrastructures at deployment time and at runtime as well as to create and provide complex virtual infrastructures to be built by one click even by novice cloud users.

On-site deployment of the smart energy-positive street lighting system called E+grid has been completed at the MTA campus at Csillebérc, Budapest. This state-of-the-art lighting system was developed with support of the Hungarian Government by a consortium led by General Electric Hungary , with the participation of MTA SZTAKI , MTA MFA and BME .

From January 2015, László Monostori has been appointed to director of MTA SZTAKI by László Lovász, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

We have the pleasure to congratulate him on his new appointment and wishing him a successful mission.

The Engineering and Management Intelligence Research Laboratory of MTA SZTAKI and the SZTAKI- Fraunhofer Project Centrum for Production Management and Informatics developed a production planning system for the motor assembly lines of Audi Hungaria Motor Ltd. for a time horizon of 26-52 weeks.

Robotic remote laser welding (RLW) has attracted interest specifically in the automotive industry due to its potential benefits in terms of processing speed, process flexibility and energy efficiency.

Contributing to the EU-funded RLW Navigator project, researchers of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence developed a software toolbox that enables the detailed configuration, optimization, simulation and automated off-line programming of RLW workcells. 

The President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences welcomed the Technical Lead from the US Office of Naval Research and Deputy from Office of Defense Cooperation to discuss extending the research collaboration between Hungary and the United States of America. It is hard to describe the deep sorrow we feel for the loss of Gary Balas, Member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Computer and Automation Research Institute, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Member of the Hungarian Engineering Academy. He left us on November 12 at his age of 54.

The Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence as the coordinator of the project hosted the kick-off meeting of the RobustPlaNet project.

On the occasion of the 60th birthday of Professor László Monostori , an international scientific workshop was held on 11th October, 2013, at Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA). Distinguished speakers put the topic of cyber-physical production systems (CPPS) into a historical context and presented their view on challenges, prospects and evolution trends of CPPS.

A research consortium of 8 European partners from industry (Airbus, Deimos Space), research establishments (DLR, MTA SZTAKI) and Universities (Bordeaux, Delft, Hull, Leicester) was established in July 2009 with funding from the European Union 7th Framework Program to address the challenge of the future sustainable aircraft: to be cleaner, quieter, smarter and more affordable.

Congratulation to Professor László Monostori , Deputy Director Research of the  Computer and Automation Research Institute , Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA SZTAKI), for his selection as member of the Engineering and Technological Sciences (ENGITECH) Scientific Committee of  Science Europe .

On December 5 and 6, 2012, a high level delegation of Hitachi’s Yokohama Research Laboratory (YRL) visited MTA SZTAKI. YRL and the Engineering and Management Intelligence (EMI) Research Laboratory of MTA SZTAKI run an extremely fruitful cooperation for the benefit of both parties.

With more than 90 participating organisations in 21 European countries and over 200 robotics related activities offered for the public, the second European Robotics Week was a tremendous success!We had our joint Hungarian event on the 27th, Tuesday 13.30-16.00.  Now We report only about the CIM Research Lab. of SZTAKI, the coordinator.  We made everything as planned, see the lefthand side of www.eurobotics.sztaki.hu.   Naturally one could reach our web-site from the www. eurobotics-project.eu as well.

SZTAKI Szótár has received Lifetime Achievement Award in the „Excellent Hungarian Online Content eFestival 2012” competition, organized by Informatika a Társadalomért Egyesület (Association of Informatics for Society). The Award Ceremony was held on November 7, 2012 in Balatonfüred, in the frame of Info Tér Conference. Prominent representatives of the Hungarian Content Industry honored the activity of MTA SZTAKI Department of Distributed Systems (MTA SZTAKI DSD) led by dr.

Through mobilising the knowledge base of Hungarian research and education institutes, the innovation of automotive transport and industrial developments will be promoted through the consortium agreement signed by the Academy in MTA main building by MTA Computer and Automation Research Institute, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (TUC), the Szent István University of Gödöllő (SZIE), Robert Bosch Elektronika Ltd. in Hatvan, and Robert Bosch Ltd.

Prof. József Bokor, Director in Science of the Computer and Automation Research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA SZTAKI) visited the headquarters of one of the most prestigious research institutes of Japan, the National Institute of Information and Communication Technology (NICT) where he was warmly welcomed by Dr. Hiroshi Kumagai (Vice President), Dr. Yasuhiro Koyama (Director) and Mr. Masahiko Fujimoto (Executive Director).
