In the competition to identify Europe's top innovators, the European Commission has nominated our institute for its research and development work in the project SYMBIO-TIC. An open vote decides the winner, votes can be given until 12. November.
In order to demonstrate the end of a current 2-year-long R&D joint project, MTA SZTAKI and the consortium-leader HEPENIX Ltd. had jointly organized a conclusive event for a large number of industry-oriented experts. The target of the INTRO:4.0 project was to support and enable SMEs and other industrial enterprises to introduce new industrial technologies, offered by the international movement named Industry 4.0. The project aimed to serve Use-Cases, digital technologies to the manufacturing and other industrial companies.
Sándor Bozóki (colleague of the Research Group of Operations Research and Decision Systems, Laboratory on Engineering and Management Intelligence) has received the 'Jean-Pierre Brans PROMETHEE Award for the best paper' in the 4th International Conference on Decision Support System Technology (ICDSST) – PROMETHEE Days 2018 conference for his paper and presentation 'Global sensitivity analysis in PROMETHEE'.
The 16th IFAC INCOM conference was held in Bergamo, Italy and the invited session organized by our colleagues was one the most attended ones. Our proposal for organizing the next, 17th edition in Budapest in three years was accepted.
Péter Györgyi (of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence) has received a Second Prize in the 'Best Student Paper Award' in PMS 2018 Conference for his presentation 'Minimizing the total weighted completion time in single machine scheduling with non-renewable resource constraints' (joint work with his supervisor Tamás Kis).
Dr. Zsolt János Viharos, senior research fellow at the Engineering and Management Intelligence Laboratory received a certificate for his outstanding contribution in the reviewing processes from the international scientific journal Measurement.

iKOMP: “Strengthening of the regional research competencies related to future-oriented manufacturing technologies and products of strategic industries by a research and development program carried out in comprehensive collaboration” (VKSZ_12-1-2013-0038), started in 2014 to encourage the research and development (R&D) in the Western Hungarian region has been ended with success in 2017.
In year 2017, already the 26th Hungarian Quality Week and its connected conference were organised in the headquarter of the Hungarian Standards Institution under the motto: “Positive aspects of change”. Our colleague, Dr. Zsolt János Viharos hold a presentation entitled “Quality Aspects of Industry 4.0” for the relative high number of participants.
“Industry 4.0 – the future of industry and engineering education” was the motto of the 15th anniversary of the engineering education celebrated by the region of Zalaegerszeg, mirroring its present, future and traditions, too. Our colleague, Dr. Zsolt János Viharos presented one of invited speeches entitled “Industry 4.0 from scientific viewpoint”.
We congratulate Dr. Gábor Erdős, senior research fellow of the Engineering and Management Intelligence Laboratory of MTA SZTAKI, who was awarded jointly with Dr. Takahiro Nakano from Hitachi Yokohama Research Laboratory (YRL) the 2017 Technology Award of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE). Their honoured work supports reconstructing the model of complex engineering objects from three dimensional measurement data, so-called point clouds. The internationally patented results are applied now at elevator renewal and construction sites.
Krisztina Konrád, Ph.D. candidate - supervised by Dr. Zsolt János Viharos, member of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence of the Institute for Computer Science and Control of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences - won the “National Higher Education Excellence Fellowship – for Ph.D. students and candidates”.

The international scientific organisation: „International Measurement Confederation” (IMEKO) – which was established in Budapest in 1958, having it’s headquarter since than continuously in Hungary – holds the yearly workshop on Technical Diagnostics in Budapest.

In collaboration with Hitachi’s Manufacturing Technology Research Center (Japan) and Fraunhofer IPA (Germany), researchers of the Engineering and Management Intelligence Laboratory took part in the development of a secure resource sharing technology for geographically dispersed production facilities.
In the recent past colleagues of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence cooperated with Syncreon Hungary Ltd. which is responsible for the operation of the overall logistic system of AUDI Győr and several other compamies. During the collaborative project a simulation model was created to present the process of a logistic system of a factory under construction.

This year, the diploma work scholarship proposed by Pro Progressio foundation (at BME, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) was earned by Bence Tipary, employee of Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence with his work, Design, production and calibration of a modular PKM.

European Robotics Week (ERW) has broken all records from previous years with over 800 events. The ERW offered one week of various interactive robotics related programs across Europe for the general public.
The Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence developed a prototype Analytical Module, commissioned by GE Hungary Kft., as part of a smart city project. The project aims at building a wireless sensor network installed on a public lighting system in the XII. District of Budapest, Hungary.

Mechatronics students and employees of Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence Dániel Horváth, Gábor Losonczi and Tamás Magyar won with excellent teamwork the 1st place in the Scientific Students’ Association 2016 (BME, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics section). Their paper, Development and Implementation of Navigation and Control Algorithm for AGV Robots in a Smart Factory also received the appraisal of AUDI Hungary. Their consultants were Dr. Ferenc Gábor Erdős senior research fellow and Richárd Beregi research associate.

In cooperation with Continetal colleagues from Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence have recently closed a successful simulation modeling workshop. Assisted by the laboratory, the project aimed at providing support for the design of a new production line by using simulation modeling.
