SZTAKI researchers build 3D printed robotic arm
Four-part video series showcases a 3D printed robotic arm built by the researchers of SZTAKI Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence. The robot has mainly educational purposes. It got implemented into SZTAKI’s SmartFactory system.
The robotic arm was built by Kristóf Abai (system development engineer), Zsóka Keszthelyi (software developer) and Richárd Beregi (research engineer). The series is focusing on their work and steps towards development. During the first episode, they talk about the problems and difficulties they had to solve – in front of the already built robot.
The second episode is about the construction of the robot’s grabber that is made of 3D printed parts and metal screws. The third episode is about the wiring and the construction of the arm itself, while the fourth and final episode showcases the robot’s implementation and functioning, as a part of the SmartFactory system.
The series also explains the price of building such a device, explaining why it is important to design freely available designs further for certain tasks. The researchers are planning to publish about their robot.
