Csaba Kerepesi, Informatics Laboratory, SZTAKI has been elected as a member of the Hungarian Young Academy (FKA) for the period 2023-2028. With this appointment, SZTAKI is now represented by him in the 60-member organisation.
The PhD Workshop jointly organised by SZTAKI (Institute for Computer Science and Control) and TU Vienna (Vienna University of Technology) took place on 4-5 May in Budapest. During the two-day event, researchers from the two institutes presented their work and results, and Austrian and Hungarian participants outlined opportunities for cooperation. A H2020 FLiPASED csapata - SZTAKI, TUM, DLR, ONERA - a T-FLEX demonstrátor 2022. augusztus 31-i incidense után, alig több mint 7 hónap alatt, sikeresen újratervezte és újonnan megépítette a repülőgép szárnyak rugalmas kutatására épített demonstrátor repülőt. Statikus és földi vibrációs tesztek után a repülési teszteket is sikeresen elvégezték a DLR Cochstedt repülőterén.
SZTAKI is the Hungarian HUB for the Gaia-X European data sharing technology project. Therefore, it was obvious that our institute was represented at the Market-X conference in the Austrian capital on 14-15 March. Róbert Lovas, Gábor Érdi-Krausz and Ákos Hajnal aimed to gather more knowledge and contacts about the project's status and the European participants.
Co-organised by the Artificial Intelligence National Laboratory (MILAB) and the Autonomous Systems National Laboratory (ARNL) – both coordinated by SZTAKI – and Neumann Nonprofit Ltd., the international AI & AUT EXPO was held between 14-15 February 2023 at the Hungarian Railway Museum in Budapest.
Christian Szegedy of Google Research gave a presentation in English at the MILAB Basic Research seminar. The presentation, "AI for Mathematics and Autoformalization", 22 February 2023, is available online. Christian Szegedy also gave a presentation during the AI & AUT EXPO, co-organised by MILAB.
The AI & AUT EXPO, co-organised by the national laboratories coordinated by SZTAKI and Neumann Nonprofit Public Benefit Ltd., attracted more than 480 visitors in two days.
The DigiPrime H2020 project provides a digital platform to help achieving the goal of circular economy. Representatives of the consortium of three dozen partners from Italy, Greece, Germany and Hungary spent time at SZTAKI from 31 January to 2 February.
Upon László Monostori, director of the institute the Doctor honoris causa (Dr. h. c.) title of the Óbuda University, Budapest, Hungary was conferred on November 23, 2022.

Projects

Our fundamental task is to perform basic and application-oriented research in an interdisciplinary setting in the fields of computer science and information technology. Contract-based target research, development, training and expert support for domestic and foreign industrial, governmental and other partners are also important activities at the Institute.

The aim of this project is to develop and evaluate a computer-based methods for automated and improved detection and classification of different colorectal lesions, especially polyps.

Progressive and well scheduled building of bridges between the physical and digital worlds, a special readiness for innovative adaptation, answers to challenges in a prompter way than any time before, including bold steps to be made concerning innovation.

The European manufacturing industry is facing challenges in terms of adaptability, flexibility and vertical integration. The SYMBIO-TIC project adresses these important issues towards a safe, dynamic, intuitive and cost effective working environment were inmersive and symbiotic collaboration between human workers and robots can take place.
