COURAGE project received a Special Mention at the Heritage in Motion competition

COURAGE project, completed with the international cooperation of 12 participants, received a Special Mention at the Heritage in Motion competition. The Award Ceremony held in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on 20th September celebrated the best multimedia projects and achievements that aim the preservation of Europe's cultural heritage. The COURAGE project was awarded for dealing with and bringing to the public "the heritage of a dissonant era", and so enabling its visitors to discover various aspects, and to better understand the historic roots and heritage of these counter-cultures.

The COURAGE project researched and analyzed the existing but scattered collections of cultural opposition and the forms of dissent in former socialist countries. The Department of Distributed Systems (DSD) at SZTAKI was responsible for the IT infrastructure of the project, and created a publicly browsable registry of the available collections using Linked Data technology. DSD has also built an online exhibition of the collected material and a system enabling tutors to create and share thematic learning material using the COURAGE registry.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 692919.
