Elaboration of defense system for the Internet
1 Jul 2003– 28 Feb 2006

Measuring security risks of the public network and systems consisting of computers connected to a network, new applied methods in security, developing technologies and devices, elaborating sample security systems, determining operational guidelines of organizations working in the area of security, propagating of a culture encouraging consciousness about security issues in computer networks (teaching materials, work conferences, case analyses).

  • Phase 1: Analysis of security risks in IT networking infrastructures
  • Phase 2: Exploration of possible defense strategies against risks
  • Phase 3: Elaborating sample security systems

As a result of Phase 3, we have developed the ToReS (Tools Related to Security) system, which is an easy to install and use Live CD based on GNU/Linux. The system itself is equipped with a graphical user interface and is aided with many assistant sortware utilities to help the user supervise and maintain network security. The software package also consists of secure implementations of some widely used services like web or mailbox, and provides solutions for firewalls and handling networks. This cost-saving solution is advised for use at the small and middle sized enterprises of the public sphere.

  • Phase 4: Developing an operational methodology for security systems.
