COVID and production planning were the focus of the second day of DET 2021

On the second day of the three-day Digital Enterprise Technology (DET) event, Dr. Dávid Gyulai, a former researcher of SZTAKI, gave a keynote presentation, on the behalf of Western Digital. DET 2021 is being hold online due to the pandemic and will close on Wednesday 13 October. Click here for a summary of the first day.

The second day of the DET started with a keynote: Dr. Dávid Gyulai, former researcher of SZTAKI and current representative of Western Digital, had a presentation titled We deliver digital: advanced analytics approaches supporting efficient design, planning and operation of distribution networks in the semiconductors industry, discussing the production and supply challenges of semiconductors and the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Digital analytics assets support companies to come up with rapid and high-quality solutions to respond to these challenges: the talk will present a set of advanced network design, delivery and planning and execution support tools. These tools combine optimization techniques with data analytics and simulation, leveraging Big Data and IoT and flexible logistics service models as enablers. Various examples will be presented, how these techniques can support to gain insight, oversight and especially foresight in the global logistics network of a semiconductors/IT hardware manufacturer. The overall objective of these tools is to maximize service level, delivering digital products and services to customers just-in-time, in high quality and at reasonable costs, even besides the ever changing external influencing factors", reads the official keynote description.

The rest of the day included presentations on value stream, production technologies and efficient calculation of production costs. Among other topics, presenters covered polymeric carbon fibre drilling techniques, simulation possibilities for flexible manufacturing systems, digital twins and the management of AGV fleets in a dynamic environment.

DET 2021 will continue on Wednesday 13 October, the last day of the three-day event. Wednesday's keynote will be delivered by Yingguang Li, Professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, China, on New curing principles and technologies in composite part manufacturing and cultivation of innovative talents.
