The SCIIMS project is concerned with the combating of organised crime where the research will focus upon the combating of people trafficking and smuggling. The programme will address the following research areas: development and application of information management techniques enabling information to be fused and shared within a secure information infrastructure. Development and application of tools to assist decision making in order to predict and analyse likely people trafficking and smuggling sources, events and links to organised crime. Utilisation and enhancement of existing state of the art products to develop and incorporate new capabilities, beyond the state of the art, into a product baseline in order to speed the introduction of new innovative techniques, technologies and systems with which to improve the ability of European agencies to fight organised crime.
