Description
The ILI (Intelligent Visitor Guidance: Interactive environment driven by contextual semantics) project's aim is to create an integrated visitor guidance framework that is able to guide visitors in various environments (e.g. museum, hospital, shopping mall, car park, etc.), integrating the capabilities of sensors, location devices and modern displays and interactive devices, thus ILI creates intelligent buildings by enabling high level context-aware services for users.
During the project a modular framework is created which transforms the users' surroundings into a smart space that is able to help the participating users in an event-driven and intelligent way in performing their tasks, providing contextual information and controlling the surrounding devices. It also provides a way to integrate a number of physical devices into the framework (RFID readers, UWB location devices, alarm devices, security sensors, etc.), and provides a unified interface to access them. The system uses state-of-the-art semantic inference and agent technology to make the appropriate decisions.
Functionalities of the system for sample scenarios are:
- Route planning
- Navigation
- Detecting/managing incidents
- Emergency management
- Tracing
- Resource management
- Data input/output
- Using signal/output devices
- Recognition
- Smart decision making
- Search
- User handling
