Gabor Kecskemeti is a research fellow of the Laboratory of Parallel and Distributed Systems in MTA-SZTAKI and an Assistant lecturer at the University of Miskolc.

Research interests

• Current interests: Cloud computing, virtualization, virtual appliances, distributed systems, service oriented architectures, classification algorithms, software reengineering
• PhD topic: support virtualization based service deployment tasks by optimizing the size and delivery of virtual machine images or virtual appliances.
  • Supervisory team: Gabor Terstyanszky (Director of studies), Peter Kacsuk and Stephen Winter
  • Experience with Xen, kvm and with various IaaS systems (Amazon EC2, Eucalyptus and Nimbus)
• MSc topic: Data mining, constructing decision trees for article classification. Comparison of the ID3 and Bayesian classifiers using a Reuters article database available at the University of Miskolc.

• 2011- Coordinating the cloud computing efforts of the laboratory
• 2008-2012 S-Cube (FP7) network of excellence:
  • Service infrastructure layer: self* behavior of virtualization based service deployment systems, SLA Aware service provisioning infrastructure
  • Adaptation and monitoring: Multi-layer adaptation of service based systems involving the service infrastructure
• 2008-2010 EDGeS (FP7):
  • Development of the GEMLCA based EDGeS application repository
  • Administering the Application repository for EDGeS and DEGISCO
• 2006-2008 Development and investigation on GEMLCA interfacing with the various P-Grade portal versions and Parameter study support for the P-Grade Portal series 2
• 2004-2006 ePerSpace (FP6): OSGi and UPnP based embedded service provisioning platform for home ("residental") gateways
• 2004- GEMLCA: Globus Toolkit 3/4 based architecture for enabling the execution of legacy code applications on grid systems. Design and development to support multiple grid middlewares and act as a generic application repository.
