- Sándor Kopácsi, Ph.D., senior research fellow

Dr. Sándor Kopácsi received his M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1990, Specialised Engineering Degree in measurement and control technique in 1992, PhD in technical sciences in 1995, and MBA in 2000 at the Technical University of Budapest, as well as, Engineer-Economist Degree in 1996 at the Budapest University of Economical Sciences. He has been working for the Computer and Automation research Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1986, where he has at present senior researcher position. He was a visiting researcher at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology in Seoul for three months in 1991, and at the Technical University of Chemnitz-Zwickau in Germany for several months in 1996, 1997 and 1999. He received János Bolyai Research Grant form the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 1998 for three years in the field of virtual reality-based simulation for planning and analysing flexible manufacturing systems. In 2002-2003 he worked for 10 months in the Institute for Applied Systems Technology Bremen, Germany, where he returned to for three months in 2005 supported by the Hungarian State Scholarship Eötvös. He has been teaching for several years at different departments of the Budapest University of Technology and Economy, he is a guest lecturer in the International Studies Centre of the Corvinus University of Budapest, and full time professor at the Dennis Gabor College. He has been member of the Public Body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and of the Association for Logic Programming (ALP), as well as of the International Program Committee of the International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) conferences for several years. He has more than 50 scientific publications in national and international periodicals and conferences, mostly in English. His professional interest includes knowledge-based simulation, animation, artificial intelligence, graphics systems and virtual reality.
