European Winter Conference on Plasma Spectrochemistry

29 January - 2 February 2005

Budapest, Hungary

The 10th biennial European Winter Conference will be held in Hungary at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration.

Being a brand new member of the European Union, Hungary will serve as an exciting and ideal venue of the Conference. The country is situated in the heart of Europe, between East and West, North and South. The Hungarian economy is the fastest growing economy in the region. More and more multinational companies establish their research and development centers in Hungary. This is accompanied by a strong local industry, a multitude of SMEs, which represents the most exciting development of the contemporary Hungarian economy. As a result, Budapest is currently growing into a major R+D center in Central Europe at the center of a new, significant market of the 21st century.

Budapest is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful capitals in the world. It is easy to reach by air and on the ground. The warm hospitality of residents, excellent food and wine, reliable and frequent public transportation, vivid cultural life, rich museums, etc, attract millions of visitors every year. Visitor-friendly visa policy, value-for-the-price services and goods, and a pleasant climate make Hungary one of the most popular meeting venues world-wide.

More than 600 scientists are expected and over 300 papers on modern plasma spectrochemistry will be presented. On the border of Eastern and Western Europe the common understanding of quality controlled spectrochemistry will be discussed. Fundamentals, instrumental development and application will be presented trough invited and contributed papers and posters. A five-day exhibition and manufacturer presentation of spectrometric instrumentation will also be organised.

Main topics:

Fundamentals

Instrumental development

QC and QA of spectrochemical determinations

Elemental speciation

Coupled systems

EC project teams presenting results of common research, and students are strongly encouraged to submit papers.

An International Programme Committee, to be chaired by Prof. Peter Fodor, Szent Istvan University, Budapest will be responsible for the scientific programme.

Please make a note in your calendar and submit the "Expression of interest" for inclusion in the Conference mailing list.
