DIGITAL ENTERPRISE - NEW CHALLENGES
Life-Cycle Approach in Management and Production
7-10 November, 2001
Budapest,
Hungary
SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT
AND
PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME
Supported by the
Hungarian Academy of Sciences
John Neumann Computer Society
PROLAMAT is a well-known event in the field of manufacturing automation.
As the "PROgraming LAnguages for MAnufacTuring" conference, this triennal
event has been a basic meeting for all academic and industrial experts
in manufacturing automation since 1969. Recently not only the original
topics, but all other aspects of the computerised design and production
of products and production systems from traditional to virtual ones are
covered and dealt with, taking into account also life cycle issues. PROLAMAT
is traditionally sponsored by IFIP. It is an honour for the Hungarian organisers
to welcome again the PROLAMAT conference participants, as it is now the
second time for PROLAMAT to select Hungary as the venue.
The PROLAMAT'2001 conference will feature up-to-date issues of the life cycle of products and production systems. The recent global world meets the challenges of building up new types of enterprises. These may be real or virtual, small or big or huge, large national or international, but all have the same type of goals as for example to increase user satisfaction (diversity and quality), to decrease costs and time-to market, and to take into account all human and environmental issues, etc. One possible solution is the so called digital enterprise, that may work in a distributed way, still with total integration of the different activities and processes from the idea, through analyses and design until reuse and recycling. Sessions and tracks to share and discuss views on the coming generation of products and production technologies will cover all aspects of the digital enterprise.

PRESENTATION AND TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT
Time for oral presentation is 25 minutes. For the benefit of both the audience and the next speaker, all speakers are kindly requested to strictly adhere to the time limit that otherwise will be enforced by the session chairs.
Overhead projectors, slide projectors and data/video beamers will be available in the session rooms. (Please note: for computer presentation, speakers should bring and use their own laptop/notebook to be connected to the data/video beamers provided in the session rooms.)
Authors wishing to give a computer presentation are kindly asked to prepare and bring with themselves also slides to be used in technical emergency.
Host City
The Hungarian capital, Budapest, known as the “Pearl of the Danube”, is a bustling city in the heart of Europe, with over two million inhabitants. Its two halves are Buda and Pest. Buda, on the right bank of the Danube, has hills and valleys, and has for centuries been the administrative centre of the country; it was formerly the royal seat. On the left bank, Pest has grown into a large, busy and modern city, spreading out on to the plains.
Venue
The Conference will take place in the Agro Hotel Conference Center*** (Address: H-1121 Budapest, Normafa út 54), situated on Svab Hill, a nice, silent part of Buda, offering beautiful panoramas of the city. The nearby forest trails offer a wide range of sports and recreation. The downtown can be reached easily by car (15 min.) or by public transport (30 min.).
Arrival in Budapest - Transfer from the Airport & Railway
Most visitors will arrive at the Budapest Ferihegy Airport. The simplest means of transportation to the Agro Hotel Conference Center is via minibuses. This door-to-door Airport Minibus Service is reasonably priced (approx. USD 6) and is much more reliable than taxis.
A Railbus Service operates from the three major Railway Stations, with approximately the same conditions as the Airport Minibus.
Getting to the Conference Site - Public Transportation The Agro Hotel Conference Center can be reached easily:
• from the Pest Downtown, Erzsebet ter (square) Bus Terminal:
METRO Line 2 to Moszkva ter
• from Keleti (East) Railway Station:
METRO Line 2 to Moszkva ter
• from Nyugati (West) Railway Station:
tram #4 or #6 to Moszkva ter
From Moszkva ter: take bus #21 (written in black!), get off at Hotel Olympia --- 2-3 minutes’ walk (straight forward and then to the right) to the Agro Hotel.
Tickets are available at METRO stations, news-stands or major bus/tram termini and must be validated inside the vehicles or at the entrance to the METRO. Please keep your ticket with you by the end of the rout /exit (Metro).
For more information, consult the map of Budapest on the Internet.
Official Language
The official language of the Conference is English. No simultaneous translation will be available.
Visas
Visitors from European countries (except Albania, Belarus, Bosnia, Moldova, Russia and Turkey) are not required visas. Participants from a few overseas countries will need a visa (please check beforehand)
Insurance
The Organizers of the Conference do not provide insurance and do not take responsibility for any loss, accident or illness that might occur during the Conference or in the course of travel to or from the meeting site. It is, therefore, the responsibility of the participants to check their coverage with their insurance provider.
Bank, Currency, Credit Cards
The unit of currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF), denoted as “Ft” by the Hungarians. International credit cards (AmEx, EC/MC, Visa) are accepted at most hotels, restaurants and shops. ATMs are available at the Airport and all over the city. (1 USD is approx. 300 HUF)
Weather
Hungary is in the temperate zone, weather in November is usually cold. Daily temperature ranges from 0oC to 5oC and the relative humidity is below 50%. However, the evenings may be cooler so a winter coat is recommended.
Voltage
The electricity supply in Hungary is 230 V AC (50 Hz).
