One of the open calls for proposals of the EU 4th RTD Framework Programme provides for the financial assistance of applications in telematics. The budget allocation to the areas of the present Call has been indicated in MECU as follows: public administration (15,5), transport (30), research (10), education and training (9), libraries (10), urban and rural development (2,2), healthcare (30,3), disabled and elderly people (13), environment (1,5), language engineering (21) information engineering (9), and in a separate call: digital services and kiosks (50). Hungarian participants are eligible for the financial assistance of the EU, too. With respect to the new conditions of participation, as well as to actual Hungarian interests, the National Committee for Technological Development (OMFB) in co-operation with Directorate General XII of the European Commission and with the contribution of the Hungarian ministries and institutions involved will deliver a Regional Information Day on February 17, 1997 with the participation of representatives of R&D groups active in the Southern part of Central and Eastern Europe. The first, plenary part of the programme serves for information. The programme in the afternoon will be kept on in sections under organisation, as follows: transport/environment, healthcare, education/training. Additional information: On its meeting of January 10, 1997, the Council of OMFB decided to make possible to provide an assistance of up to 10 M HUF for Hungarian applicants who had become partners in a short-listed project of Activity I of the 4th RTD Framework Programme.
