set out to bring our colleagues from the Accession Countries to the EARMA
Annual Conference 2002 in Budapest in order to cultivate the networking
between professional colleagues from East, Center and West of Europe and
enhance the professional standing for all of us.
To
amplify this idea the EARMA Executive Committee decided to announce a Free
Trial Institutional Membership
for 2002
for research institutions
from these countries,
that intend to
send one or more delegates to the EARMA Annual Conference 2002, subject
to the rules set out below..
EARMA, as the leading association of research managers and administrators across Europe, which sets the highest standards for research management and administration, is convinced that with this step it will contribute to the cohesion of Europe in general and to the cohesion between Europe’s research managers and administrators in particular.
If
you qualify, EARMA invites you now to profit from this offer by applying
for this Free Trial Institutional Membership.

is how interested, qualified institutions should proceed:
Register
as a new Institutional Member via the EARMA Website www.earma.org.
Click “About EARMA”, go to “Membership” and click the button “Application”.
On
the online registration form, applicants
should use the field “Institution“ to
enter the name of the organization followed by the text “Free Trial IM
Accession Countries 2002”
Please
do all you can to publicise this offer among your contacts with regional
and national research institutions from the defined geographic area.

Member EARMA Executive Committee and Member EARMA Executive Committee and
EARMA
announces a Free Trial EARMA Institutional Membership for universities
and research organisations from the Accession Countries, subject to the
rules spelled out below.
Background:
At
its Berlin Meeting on 27 Oct 2001 the EARMA Executive Committee agreed to
offer a Free Trial Institutional Membership for one year to universities
and research organisations from the Accession Countries. This offer is
a part of EARMAs programme “Go East” and the promotional campaign related
to the EARMA Budapest annual conference 2002 to reach its goal of 50% participants
from the Accession Countries.
This
offer is subject to the following RULES:
1.Eligibility:
Eligible are Universities
and research organisations from the Accession Countries that formally requested
it AND register/send one or more delegates to the EARMA Budapest 2002 annual
conference.
2.Under
this offer, delegates from such Free Trial EARMA Institutional Members
will be accepted to the EARMA Budapest 2002 annual conference at the
membership rate.
3.The
time-window
of opportunity for applications to this EARMA programme opens on the
day of the Second Call of the EARMA Annual Conference 2002 and closes on
the close of the businessday when the Budapest conference registration
closes.
4.This
Free Trial EARMA Institutional Members lasts for the calendar year 2002.
At the beginning of 2003, Free Trial EARMA Institutional Members are invited to
become “regular” EARMA Institutional
Members by paying the regular fee for such membership for 2003 (currently
€ 500.-).
5.Free
Trial EARMA Institutional Members have the same rights and duties
as any other EARMA Institutional Member.
6.An
“ad hoc board“ accepts/rejects applications within ten working days
after submission.
The ad hoc board is composed of the following members of the EARMA
Executive Committee: Heikki Mäkipää (Head of the EARMA “Go
East” Working Group), Peter Büttner (EARMA Liaison Officer to the
Budapest Organisers and International Vicepresident of the Budapest Programme
Committee). Acting as secretary is Monica Gonzales, Manager of the EARMA
Main Office in Brussels.
7.The
“ad hoc board” has the authority to decide on justified exceptions
to these rules.
8.If,
within ten days after the acceptance of the application, there is no
registration for the EARMA Budapest conference 2002, the affected Free
Trial EARMA Institutional Member will
be reminded by e-mail and if no appropriate action occurs within another
ten days the Free
Trial EARMA Institutional Membership will
be terminated.
9.In
case
of disagreement with a decision of the ad hoc board the affected institution
can bring it before the bureau of the EARMA Executive Committee (President,
Vicepresidents, Treasurer, Secretary) for final decision within a reasonable
time.
