Knowledge embodied in products and services, the increasing proportion of added intellectual value have resulted in the advantageous position of North-America and Japan in the global market, meaning that Europe has to advance by developing knowledge industry. Development and innovation are vital to increase competitiveness: our Institute agrees to the EU scientific policy and makes all efforts to increase Hungary’s economic opportunities by supporting informatics knowledge and engineering. Besides the comprehensive basic- and application-oriented research activities we also put great importance on the profitable exploitation of the particular knowledge and experience acquired, in the fields of research and development, system–integration, consultancy and software development. MTA SZTAKI’s scientific policy is efficiency-centered: by converting our intellectual capital into economic capital.

The values brought by applied research and their social importance determine the prosperity of individuals and communities, therefore MTA SZTAKI strengthens the infrastructural background as well as inspires research and development. Constant modernization of our virtual institutes and laboratories performing basic research is a must for a long-term economic development. The Institute offers methodological assistance to solve problems in various fields of knowledge-intensive economies. We provide up-to-date information for the public and the industry, and we also aim at certifying new scientific and technological results. The latter has always been a stronghold of Hungary, and its our responsibility to save this tradition, as it is the basis of the country’s intellectual power and the way to recognize its values.
